Maliksi, Amer lead Meralco to first bubble win at expense of Alaska

MERALCO picked up its first win in the PBA Philippine Cup bubble at the expense of a lackluster Alaska side, 93-81, on Wednesday at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center.

Allein Maliksi and Baser Amer atoned for their lackadaisical form in an opening loss to Phoenix while veteran Reynel Hugnatan continued his consistent form as the Bolts handed the Aces a second successive defeat.

The victory was Meralco's first after losing to Phoenix in the opener.

The Bolts were ahead the entire game, with the Aces only giving the Norman Black-led team the scare early in the third period.

With main man Vic Manuel struggling offensively, Jeron Teng carried most of the load and spearheaded a 12-0 run to start the third period and erase a 14-point deficit.

With 4:58 remaining, Mike Digregorio scored on a three-point play to tie things up at 52-all.
