Philippine volleyball's comeback is looking bright as the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) training venues have been approved by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB).
"We're hoping [to start training] next week at the latest," PVL president Ricky Palou told Rappler on Wednesday, February 17.
GAB cleared the Ronac Gym in Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong, the Greenhills West Gym, and the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Ronac Gym is set to remain the home gym of three-time PVL titlists Creamline Cool Smashers and Choco Mucho, but it will also be offered to the Perlas Spikers.
Petro Gazz will set its home base in Filoil, which is likewise offering the venue to other teams.
Newcomer Peak Form, on the other hand, is eyeing the Greenhills West Gym.
After getting clearance from GAB, each team must seek the approval from the respective local government units of each venue in order to start training.
The PVL officials will be meeting with Cignal, PLDT and Bali Pure on Thursday, February 18 to discuss their training restart plans.
Both the Cignal Spikers and PLDT HomeFibr Hitters made their move to the PVL from the Philippine Superliga after the professional league struck a broadcast deal with Cignal TV.
The league is set to kick off on April 10 in a bubble set up located at the National University (NU) Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.
PVL officially became the country's first professional volleyball tournament last November, months after the three-conference commercial league got shuttered due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
