PBA teams have 86 players to choose from in the upcoming draft.
The PBA released the final draft list on Monday, March 8 that saw the initial number of 97 rookie applicants trimmed to 86 who are eligible for the March 14 proceedings.
A total of 10 Filipino-foreigners – among them potential first-round picks Jason Brickman, Taylor Statham, Jeremiah Gray, and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser – and 1 local will not get a chance to be drafted.
Brickman, Gray, Ganuelas-Rosser, and Statham failed to beat the deadline last March 5 for the submission of Department of Justice and Bureau of Immigration documents required by the PBA.
Other Filipino-foreigners who did not make the final cut are Tyrus Hill, Christopher Cancio, John Paul Gulfo, Ezra Ocampo, JJ Espanola, and John Paul Zarco, while Neilowen de Jesus is the only local.
Despite the omissions, the current draft class is still heavy with talent, with teams expected to get quality players even after the third round.
Joshua Munzon and Jamie Malonzo are anticipated to be picked early from the loaded draft pool that also boasts players like Mikey Williams, Calvin Oftana, Alvin Pasaol, Santi Santillan, and Larry Muyang, to name a few.
