France beats Doncic, Slovenia to face US in Olympic basketball final

France edged Olympic debutant Slovenia 90-89 Thursday to make the Tokyo Games men’s basketball final against defending champions the United States.

Nando De Colo poured in 25 points for the French while Evan Fournier added 23.

They were behind 29-27 after the first quarter and 44-42 at halfway, before rallying to hold off the valiant Slovenians and earn themselves the chance of a maiden gold medal.

Luka Doncic had 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 18 assists in his first career loss in international competition.

Earlier, Kevin Durant led the Americans past Australia to clinch the first final berth.
