Reigning WBA (Super) Welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas (27-4, 12 KO) pulled off the biggest win of his career last night (Sat., Aug. 21, 2021) live on FITE/FOX pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, when he upset the legendary Manny Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KO) via unanimous decision.
Pacquiao, 42, hadn’t competed since a win over Keith Thurman back in June 2019. “Pac-Man” was expected to fight undefeated WBC and IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. at this event, but an injured eye prevented Spence from fighting and allowed Ugas to claim the marquee. The Cuban champion did exactly that by outlasting Pacquiao and bloodying him up over the course of 12 rounds.
