Alyssa Valdez and Jia Morado will not be in the rosters of two Philippine teams that will see action in the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Asian Women’s Club Championship slated 1 to 7 October in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
This became apparent following the addition of Kat Tolentino and Deanna Wong of Choco Mucho and Jema Galanza of Creamline to the national pool.
Reports said the three were named by head coach Odjie Mamon and Brazilian consultant Jorge Edson Souza de Brito.
However, national team commission chair Tonyboy Liao said he has yet to receive the final lineups.
The deadline for the submission of lineups is 7 September.
“As of now, I have not received the line ups from the coaching staff. My instruction to them is to add three players so that total will be 24 and to form two teams,” Liao said.
“Whoever will be the three players that will be added, I told them to make a formal invitation to know if they want to join or not.”
Currently, the pool is composed of skipper Aby Maraño and veterans Majoy Baron, Kianna Dy, Dawn Macandili, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Kalei Mau, Rhea Dimaculangan, Ria Meneses, Mylene Paat. MJ Philips, Tin Tiamzon, Iris Tolenada and Dell Palomata.
Also in the pool are rising stars Mhicaela Belen, Kamille Cal, Imee Hernandez, Ivy Lacsina, Eya Laure, Jen Nierva, Faith Nisperos and Bernadett Pepito.
Valdez and Morado, who did not attend the tryouts last April, were snubbed by the coaches.
