Chery Tiggo shoots for the solo lead in the team standings as it faces Akari in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2nd All-Filipino Conference at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Tuesday, October 24.
The Crossovers face the Chargers at 6 p.m., with their match serving as the main event of a triple-header gameday.
The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers and the Nxled Chameleons collide to open the curtains at 2 p.m., while the Farm Fresh Foxies and the PLDT High Speed Hitters clash at 4 p.m.
At 2-0 with six points, Chery Tiggo shares the top spot with Petro Gazz and defending champion Creamline but a win at Akari's expense would make the Aaron Velez-coached team the solo leader early in the tournament.
The Crossovers got off to a strong start this conference, sweeping both the Farm Fresh Foxies and the Galeries Tower Highrisers. Galeries was Chery's latest victim as it won the match, 25-14, 25-15, 25-21, last Thursday.
Just two games into the 11-game elimination round conference, Velez knows that the Crossovers can't afford to be complacent, saying that they need to keep their discipline and momentum going to give themselves a good shot at winning games.
"We learned from the last conferences that the ball is really round. We cannot be complacent. Each one of us needs to remain disciplined because in the blink of an eye, everything can change," said Velez in the mix of Filipino and English.
"That's why we need to keep our momentum going and we should double our discipline inside and outside the court. We should always be sharp," added Velez.
On the other hand, the Chargers are looking to bounce back after falling to the PLDT High Speed Hitters last Thursday, 16-25, 16-25, 23-25.
The Jorge Souza de Brito-coach team sports a 1-1 record, tied with Cignal, PLDT, and Choco Mucho.
Raring to bounce back also from their respective defeats are F2 Logistics and Farm Fresh, each of them facing teams that won their last games in Nxled and PLDT.
