Ginebra outplays TNT in overtime to snatch Game 1

Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel drew first blood in the best-of-seven 2020 PBA Philippine Cup Finals after escaping the TNT Tropang Giga in overtime, 100-94, Sunday evening at the AUF Sports Arena and Cultural Center.

Rookie forward Arvin Tolentino forced the extension, being the recipient of a well-placed pass by floor general L.A. Tenorio. Tolentino cut to the hoop and laid the ball in with 5.0 left in regulation to tie the game at 92.

In the ensuing possession, Jayson Castro's potential game-winning floater popped out of the rim, which opened the door for the five-minute extension.

Ginebra utilized their paint presence and outscored their opponents in the extension, 8-2. Japeth Aguilar's two-handed jam sealed the deal for the Gin Kings, which gave the team a 100-94 lead with 19.6 to go.

Aguilar led all scorers with 25 points, while grabbing 16 rebounds.
