ROXAS CITY – Capiz Governor Tony Del Rosario supports the fight against drugs, so he welcomes the return of Senior Superintendent Samuel Nacion, known for his effectiveness against illegal drugs activities, to the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO).

Del Rosario told reporters July 18 that he does not object Nacion’s reassignment to the CPPO, citing the latter’s raids against suspects of drug-related crimes and other illegal activities during the latter’s short stint in the province.

Nacion spent some two months as CPPO director before getting reassigned to Negros Occidental. He became CPPO director again on July 18.

Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) Director Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles endorsed Nacion to Del Rosario in a courtesy call at the Capiz Provincial Capitol July 18. He asked for Del Rosario’s support for the police’s activities against criminality, which the governor gave.

The local chief executive stressed that the fight against drugs has been one of his advocacies ever since he was mayor of Roxas City from 1998 to 2007.

He added that he is seeking legal and legislative consultation before providing additional budget for legal assistance to policemen in case drug suspects or syndicates question what they do during raids.
