ROXAS CITY, Nov. 21 (PNA) - Flights from Cebu to Roxas and vice versa will attract more tourists to the province of Capiz, thus creating better business opportunities, Melanie Arancillo, an executive assistant to Governor Tony Del Rosario said.
This latest development “supports the provincial government’s efforts to build healthy alliances with the private sector in the field of tourism,” Arancillo said as the fights were launched November 19, according to the Capiz Aksyon News Center on Monday.
Roxas City will become a gateway to popular beach destinations, namely Sicogon Island and Gigantes Islands in Carles, Iloilo for tourists in Eastern and Central Visayas, and Bicol Region because of its proximity and the new flights, Arancillo added.
Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Manager for Roxas City Cynthia Aspera said that the new flights will help boost trade and tourism between the provinces of Cebu and Capiz.
Fast, convenient, and high-quality air transport services will improve the city’s image as one that is “nationally connected,” Aspera said.
Aspera added that the parking area is undergoing expansion in anticipation of an increase in the number of passengers. The Wi-Fi connection, offered for free to passengers, is improved. Running lights are installed for late afternoon flights.
During Del Rosario’s incumbency as Capiz 1st District Representative, he worked with then Department of Transportation and Communications and Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas on adding/improving of facilities of the Roxas City Airport, which includes the running lights, rotating beacon, as well as improvements of the waiting area, comfort rooms, check-in counters.
