‘I don’t let blindness stop me’

ROXAS City – “France Got Incredible Talent” third placer Alienette Coldfire acknowledged that her blindness is a life obstacle.

But she did not let her disability stop her from reaching for her dreams.

Alienette Coldfire, a native of Tapaz, Capiz whose real name is Katchry Jewel San Felix Golbin, paid Gov. Antonio del Rosario a visit at the provincial capitol on Dec. 23.

She was with her mother Estrella and her guide Mae Jane Celorico.

Del Rosario gave her a certificate of recognition. He thanked Coldfire for being a pride of Capiz and the whole Philippines.

Coldfire also sang the French song with the English title “If Love is All We Have” — her finals piece — before capitol employees in the Office of the Governor.

“It has always been a hindrance,” Coldfire said of her blindness. “But just because it is a hindrance, it does not mean I will let it hinder me.”

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan also approved a resolution congratulating Coldfire for her victory.

Del Rosario said the provincial government will give Coldfire any support as long as it is allowed by law. He added that the Capisnon pride agreed to sing in international events that may be held in Capiz. (With RJ Mijares, Capiz Aksyon News Center/PN)
