Capiz dev’t council allocates P7.4B for investment programs

ROXAS City – The Provincial Development Council (PDC) of Capiz approved a P7.4-billion budget for the 2018 annual investment program of the province.

An estimated P1.59 billion was taken from the local funds while the P5.8 billion, from external funds.

Gov. Antonio del Rosario, who presided the PDC meeting on Oct 5, said it is “very important” that the budget be presented to stakeholders, including mayors.

We want the provincial government to be transparent in our programs and other transactions because what we are spending are the people’s money,” del Rosario said.

The biggest portion of the budget – an estimated P812.8 million – will go to social services.

It was followed by general public services with a budget amounting to over P492.2 million and economic services with P266.6 million.

Over P20.4 million was allocated for “other services.”

According to del Rosario, the social services fund will cover programs on education, manpower, development, health, nutrition and population control, housing and community development, and social security, and social services and welfare.

Part of the budget will be used for the upgrade of hospital equipment and facilities in the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital and four other provincial government-run district hospitals. (PIA/PN)
