CHRIS Newsome buried the crucial shots in the PBA Philippine Cup bubble’s first overtime game, leading Meralco past Magnolia, 109-104, on Tuesday at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center.
Newsome scored 26 points in the game but none bigger than the fadeaway jumper he made with 10.2 seconds left that gave Meralco a 107-104 lead, atoning for his late miss in the final play of regulation.
The win also preserved the heroics Aaron Black and Trevis Jackson in the fourth period as the Bolts picked up a win – their second in four outings.
