Alaska deals NLEX playoff hopes a major blow after gritty OT win

ALASKA withstood a gritty stand by NLEX in overtime, 122-119, on Monday to stay in the hunt for a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals of the PBA Philippine Cup at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center.

The Aces pulled off a huge victory at the end of their elimination round campaign to finish with a 7-4 win-loss card. They are currently in fourth place but will wait for the results of the other matches to determine their seeding.

The loss could be huge for the Road Warriors as they snap their three-game winning streak to fall to 4-6. They stay in ninth place, a game behind Rain or Shine for the final quarterfinal berth.

Maverick Ahanmisi had 25 points and 12 rebounds for the Aces, while joining forces with Rodney Brondial and Mike DiGregorio in overtime to pull away from the Road Warriors.
