Based on PAGASA’s latest weather bulletin, the low-pressure area (LPA) entered PAR at 2 p.m. and is already at 955 kilometers east of Visayas.
Its trough or extension is now bringing scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Mindanao, Eastern and Central Visayas, and Bicol Region.
PAGASA Weather Specialist Ana Clauren said the forecast track of the LPA showed it will move generally west-northwestward or northwestward toward Eastern Visayas and may likely reach the area on Saturday afternoon.
The weather disturbance could also develop into a tropical depression within the next 36 hours and will be locally named “Tonyo,” the country’s 20th tropical cyclone this year and the second for November after Severe Tropical Storm “Siony.”
Meanwhile, Siony is expected to leave PAR Friday night. Ahead of its exit, PAGASA has lowered Batanes to tropical cyclone wind signal No. 1 while the storm warning signal in Babuyan Island has been lifted.
At 4 p.m. on Friday, PAGASA said Siony was spotted 145 kilometers west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, and has maintained its strength with a maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 115 kph.
The storm continues to move west-northwestward at 20 kph and will likely be 380 kilometers west-northwest of Itbayat, already outside PAR, Saturday morning.
Meantime, strong to gale force winds associated with Siony and the surge of the northeasterly surface wind flow will also be experienced over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon.
