Brickman leads early birds for PBA Draft

JASON Brickman, Jeremiah Gray, and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser lead the pack for the early entrants in the upcoming PBA Draft.

The three former San Miguel Alab Pilipinas stalwarts were among the first six players to submit their applications to the PBA Office in Libis, throwing their names for the annual rookie selection proceedings set on March 14 next year.

Brickman, 29, is easily the most famed of the applicants as the Fil-Am guard ranked fourth in NCAA Division I's career assists list from his time in LIU Brooklyn.

The 5-foot-10 Brickman spent the past few seasons in the ASEAN Basketball League, winning a championship with Phoenix Super LPG gunner Matthew Wright during their time with Westports Malaysia Dragons. He also played for the Mono Vampire in Thailand and Alab Pilipinas.

Brickman averaged 8.9 points on 45-percent shooting, to go with 9.1 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.1 steals this past ABL season.

Gray, meanwhile, is a 6-foot-6 Fil-Am prospect who is arguably one of the most athletic in this year's class.

The 24-year-old product of Dominican University of California posted 8.4 points, 3.9 boards, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 blocks in his lone season with Alab.

Lastly, Ganuelas-Rosser is the 26-year-old brother of San Miguel winger Matt.

The 6-foot-7 banger came from UC Riverside and netted 4.9 points and 2.5 rebounds in his sophomore season for Alab.

The three are poised to garner strong impressions from the scouts ahead of the January 27 deadline set for applicants.

Aside from the three, Andre Paras also submitted his application for the next draft.

The son of two-time PBA MVP Benjie will test his luck in the PBA after his stints with AMA Online Education in the PBA D-League dating back to 2017.

Completing the list are 5-foot-8 guard Matthew Kyle Sanchez of San Beda who played for Taguig in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 League and 5-foot-8 playmaker Shem Kenneth Magallanes from Caybiga High School. (RL)
