Barangay Ginebra San Miguel introduced new uniforms that will be worn for the PBA’s 46th season during an online event held Thursday, April 22.
LA Tenorio, Stanley Pringle, Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar and Mark Caguioa showed off the red and white versions of the jerseys with the theme “One Ginebra Nation.”
The slogan is shown in front of the uniforms with the words “Bagong Tapang” placed below the numbers on the back.
Ginebra had previously sported special jerseys with the theme “Ginebra Ako” during its run to the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup crown and in the same conference the following year. The Gin Kings eventually went back to their regular jerseys following those conferences.
It is still unknown if the new jerseys will be used on a permanent basis or if they’ll eventually revert back to the regular aesthetics.
A promo was also launched by Ginebra San Miguel Inc. in order for fans to purchase replica jerseys and caps.
Coach Tim Cone’s squad is aiming to defend its Philippine Cup crown which Ginebra won during last season’s bubble in Clark, Pampanga.
The Gin Kings enhanced their status as one of the title contenders when they acquired Christian Standhardinger from the NorthPort Batang Pier last month in exchange for Greg Slaughter.
But it is still unsure as to when the season can start due to the COVID-19 situation in the country.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial, who is hopeful for a late-May or early-June tipoff, and the league’s Board of Governors earlier approved plans to begin the season with a single-round Philippine Cup followed by a double-round Governors’ Cup which spans 10 months.
