The Los Angeles Lakers (35-23) make the first stop on a four-game road trip against the Dallas Mavericks (31-26) Thursday at American Airlines Center. Tip-off is set for 9:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Lakers-Mavericks odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.
The Lakers are expected to welcome back Anthony Davis to the lineup for the first time since Feb. 14, barring any setbacks during warm-ups.
The good news keeps coming, too, as there are reports LeBron James (ankle) is just one week behind A.D. in his recovery.
L.A. has alternated wins and losses in each of their past 12 games, and they’re 6-6 ATS during the span, as the reserves have at least kept the team’s collective head above water with the two stars on the shelf.
The Mavericks won 127-117 over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, as the visitors backdoored anybody laying the 10.5-point spread. Dallas enters on an 0-6 ATS skid since its last cover back on April 8.

The Lakers are finally getting one of their two superstars back on Thursday night. Anthony Davis (calf) told reporters on Wednesday that he’s planning on playing against the Mavericks. We’ll likely need to see if AD has a designation on the injury report, plus he’ll likely be on a minutes restriction in his first game back. Either way, it’s a good sign for the Lakers, who are in 5th place in the West and are comfortable in that spot.
