The Philippine national men’s volleyball team will see action in the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championships set from Oct. 8 to 15 also in Nakhon Ratchasima.
UPDATE: The men’s club team will leave for Thailand on October 4 in order to prepare for the tournament from October 8 to 14.
Dante Alinsunurin remains as the head coach of the men’s team after leading the squad to a 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games silver.
Even without stars Marck Espejo and Bryan Bagunas, who signed with international professional clubs, the men’s team is still intact with John Vic de Guzman as team captain.
He will be joined by team mates Jessie Lopez, Ysay Marasigan, Rex Intal, Mark Alfafara, Nico Almendras, Kim Malabunga, Ish Polvorosa, Francis Saura, Manuel Sumanguid, Josh Retamar, Jao Umandal, Ricky Marcos and JP Bugaoan.
Like the women’s team, the men’s volley squad will also train for three weeks at the university facility in Pampanga starting Sept. 1.
The national team training is supported by the PSC, the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), Rebisco and Taguig City and in cooperation with the city of San Fernando and Pampanga Gov. Dennis Pineda.
The coaching staff is made up of assistant coach Grace Antigua, trainers Raffy Mosuela and George Pascua, strength and conditioning coach Paolo Rivero and physical therapist Grace Gomez.
