Dawn Macandili has returned and help the Cargo Movers pick up their first win in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.
The multi-awarded libero was a much-needed boost for F2 Logistics, contributing 13 digs in a 25-17, 25-21, 25-16 victory over UAI-Army on Tuesday at Philsports Arena.
“I’m happy to play again and to be with my teammates,” said Macandili in Filipino after coming back from an undisclosed injury.
“It felt great and my adrenaline is high. But I reminded myself to stay calm and not to get too excited so it won’t affect my game.”
When Macandili and her backup CJ Woo missed the first two games, F2 Logistics had to convert Ara Galang as their primary libero. At the same time, middle blocker Aby Marano and Dzi Gervacio were also tasked to protect the floor in the first and second matches, respectively.
Despite the back-to-back defeats, the reigning Open Conference Best Libero appreciated the effort of her teammates for filling in the void she left.
“I’m thankful to my teammates because they had no choice but to step up. I believe they did pretty well covering up for my role,” Macandili said.
Macandili and the Cargo Movers seek to keep their momentum going against PLDT on Tuesday.
“Since we came from a loss, our mindset is to focus one game at a time. So at least we will be able to make adjustments toward our goal. We can’t rush (our progress), we’ll do it slowly,” she said.
