ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office in Capiz will tour Indigenous People (IP) leaders around the province on Sept. 29, 2016, as part of the Provincial Tourism Month (PTM) celebration.
The IP leaders are from the Ati and Panay Bukidnon tribes in the towns of Dumarao, Tapaz, and Jamindan, according to Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer Alphonsus Tesoro.
They will go around tourist spots such as Capiz Eco Park in Cuartero, Meditation Hills in Sapian, Panay Church (home of the biggest bell in Asia), Dumulog fish drying community, and heritage sites such as the Capiz Provincial Capitol and Jose Rizal Monument in Roxas City.
Tesoro said tour is in line with PTM’s theme “Tourism for All – Promoting Universal Accessibility.”
“Nobody is excluded when it comes to tourism,” Tesoro said during the Dayon Kamo: A Showcase of Accommodation Establishments and Tour Packages of Capiz last Sept. 26.
A similar tour happened Sept. 27 for 40 persons with disabilities (PWDs) who went on the same itinerary.
Ten hotels and restaurants will host the IP leaders and PWDs, Tesoro said.
The two familiarization tours will last for a day. (TDH/Capiz Aksyon News Center/RJMijares)
