ROXAS City – Capiz’s best will be showcased in the Capiztahan 2017.

Set from April 21 to 23, Capiz has set aside more than P11.4 million for the annual festivity.

Among the highlights of the celebration are the triathlon dubbed as “Triaksyon” which will be participated in by both local and international triathlon athletes; Parade of Lights; Sadsad Capiz that will showcase the culture of the Capiceños; agro-industrial trade fair; fireworks competition; and Fiesta Capiznon.

Fiesta Capiznon will feature the food specialties in every town to include seafoods like crabs, prawns and oysters, fish as well as native chicken and other native delicacies prepared at the Capiz Gymnasium.

We just want to prove that Capiz is the Seafood Capital of the Philippines,” said Gov. Antonio del Rosario.

During the recent multi-sectoral meeting in preparation for this year’s Capiz’ big event, the governor likewise pointed out that the Capiztahan is a distinct and unique festival of Capiz.

The Capiztahan this year marks the 116th foundation anniversary of the civil government of Capiz and the commemoration of the 69th death anniversary of President Manuel Acuña Roxas, the province’s most illustrious son.

Aside from the provincial government’s appropriated budget of more than P9 million, the DoubleDragon Properties Corporation and ACS Corporation have each given P1-million for the Capiz International Triathlon competition. (PIA-Capiz/PN)
