THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Western Visayas, in partnership with other agencies, will hold a regional forum on small and medium enterprise (MSME) development and disaster resilience at the Gerry Roxas Foundation Convention Center in Roxas City, Capiz, on March 23.
DTI Regional Operations Group Assistant Secretary Ameenah Fajardo is the keynote speaker.
The forum aims to increase awareness and engage different stakeholders in the development and implementation of policies and programs, particularly in enhancing the disaster resilience of MSMEs.
It will also be a venue to link government agencies, private sector organizations and partners to discuss and explore the crucial roles of these different agencies in implementing a roadmap for SME resiliency in the Philippines.
There will be sessions following the presentation on public-private partnership on strengthening SME disaster resilience and presentation on the proposed SME road map and action plan by Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation Executive Director Marilou Erni.
DTI-Western Visayas officer-in-charge director Rebecca Rascon will talk about linking disaster risk reduction and management and business continuity management together with Bjorn Tomter of Einar’s Natural Food Export.
Other topics to be discussed in the sessions are: enhancing MSME general and disaster risk data, tailored disaster risk financing for MSMEs, role of MSMEs in business continuity and resiliency.
At the end of the meetings, there will be an action planning workshop for the development of a regional priority action plan, which will also be presented in the plenary. DTI Capiz Provincial Office Director Ermelinda Pollentes will give the closing remarks. (sunstar.com.ph)
