Capiz Int’l Triathlon seen to boost local economy

ROXAS City – The second installment of the Capiz International Triathlon, or the TriAksyon, is seen to boost the local economy in the province.

TriAksyon is a sports tourism event that was first launched in the province on April 22 to 23 this year.

An executive committee meeting for the event led by Gov. Antonio del Rosario, TriAksyon chairman Greg Atienza and tournament director Jose Borres was held on Nov. 27 at the provincial capitol.

Provincial Tourism Officer Alphonsus Tesoro and tourism officers from 16 towns and this capital city were also present during the meeting.

During the first TriAksyon, tourist arrivals boosted the local economy with hotels being fully booked and restaurants generating more revenues.

The organizers of the sports event are expecting the same outcome on April 14 to 15 next year.

The early bird registration for the triathlon is ongoing. It started on Dec. 1 and will last until Jan. 15, 2018, Borres said.

Registration fee for the kids category is P700, P2,000 for the standard category and P2,500 for the relay category.

Interested participants can register at the second floor room 8 of the Capiz Government Business Center along Fuentes Drive in the city or online via www.capiztriaksyon.com.

The sports event is a part of the province’s annual CAPIZtahan Festival. (With Capiz Aksyon News Center/PN)
